Whimsical Red Polymer Clay Beaded Parrot pin brooch

Product Description

This whimsical cute red parrot pin was sculpted by hand in polymer clay and measures about 2 1/2 inches tall. She would make a delightful gift for any bird lover! I started with a textured a brown polymer clay rectangle and pressed the bird sculpture onto this background. I dusted the rectangle background with gold Pearl Ex powder. The bird's head and body were sculpted by hand from red sparkle polymer clay which I dusted with red Pearl Ex powder. Her wings and tail were sculpted from pink polymer clay with white speckles. I dusted the wings and tail with red interference Pearl Ex powder. I added texture to resemble feathers to the parrot's head and body. Her beak was sculpted from brown polymer clay and dusted with gold Pearl Ex powder. I added three rows of red glass tube beads to her tail and a small golden flower finding to her shoulder. I protected the pin with high gloss glaze. This pin has a 1 inch pin back and I've also signed the back of the brooch, so you know it's an original creation.

Inspiration/Story Behind This Product

This cute parrot pin was inspired by a project in Christi Friesen's book "Birds of a Feather".
