This unique and colorful necklace is a one of a kind creation and features an elegant peacock among delicate flowers. The peacock was sculpted by hand in Premo polymer clay. I textured the body and dusted it with teal blue Pearl Ex powder. The tail feathers are composed of two layers of polymer clay in red and blue. They've been textured to resemble feathers and dusted with shimmering blue Pearl Ex powders. The "eyes" on the tail were made from blue green polymer clay and have blue and red acrylic and glass beads in the center. The peacock's wing was accented with a metallic green leaf and a gold flower finding. The peacock's crest was made from blue and red glass beads and secured with green pins and liquid polymer clay. The bird sits on a textured polymer clay branch with a wire running through the center. This adds strength and stability to the focal element. A large pink flower grows on the branch as well. I dusted it very lightly with Red-Blue Pearl Ex and secured a red Swarovski bead in the center. I dusted the green leaves with green Pearl Ex powder as well. Three red flowers dangle from the peacock's tail. Their centers consist of a white acrylic bead, a red Swarovski bead, and a blue acrylic bead. The necklace is composed of a combination of blue acrylic beads, blue crackle glass beads, my own purple polymer clay beads with mixed Pearl Ex bands, green acrylic beads, and blue fire polished glass beads. The flowers were sculpted by hand from polymer clay and dusted with Red- Blue Pearl Ex. They have sparkling red ceramic beads for centers. The peacock, flowers, and polymer clay beads have been sealed with two coats of high gloss varnish. The necklace is finished off with green glass tube bead and tiny red glass beads. It measures 29 inches long, was strung on beading wire and has a silver lobster clasp. This necklace will certainly get you noticed!

This peacock necklace was inspired by Christi Friesen's peacocks and her book on sculpting birds. As usual, I took things in my own direction and ended up creating this amazing piece. I even invented my own method of applying mixed Pearl Ex powders to the beads for a very unique effect. I can honestly say that I love this piece and put a lot of time and effort into creating it.
