Sunset is a felted painting measuring 13" by 16" with beaded and stitched embellishments, mounted on a 16" by 20" canvas painted with an acrylic glaze. The painting began as fibers laid out in a pattern, wet felted and embellished with needle felting; wet felted again and embellished with stitching; wet felted again and embellished with glass seed beads. After the final embellishment, the painting was once again wet felted to secure the embellishments in a solid felt. After drying, the painting was mounted to the prepared canvas.

I always wanted to be a painter, but never realized my dream until I discovered how fibers reacted much like watercolors when creating felt.
