ArtFire

This crescent shaped, blue and purple bead embroidered necklace was created from ideas and inspiration I got while looking at jewelry from India. It was created especially for the ArtFire Beadweavers Challenge.

It is made from vintage look bracelet components,that combine amethyst color crystals with enamel work, seed beads that highlight and compliment the colors from the bracelet components, and fire polished Czech crystals in blue and purple. The seed bead colors are clear lined sky blue, transparent amethyst, Delica beads in Morning Sky blue, and size 15 beads in turquoise blue.

The fringe consists of alternating blue and purple stands of beads that include 4mm fire polished Czech crystals and are finished off in either a dagger bead or a magmatama drop bead in either blue or purple. I used magmatama drop beads woven into the picot edging to finish the bottom edge of the necklace.

It is embroidered on interfacing and backed with a soft ultra suede in blue. The strands of the necklace are connected with more bracelet components in an arch shape. The closure is my signature peyote toggle and loop clasp.

The necklace length is 15 inches (38cm.) and will adjust to 17 inches (43.18cm.). This length includes the fringe.

I used 2 more of the bracelet components to make the earrings that are included. They hang on a diagonal and each bottom corner has two strands of beads hanging from a 4mm aqua fire polished Czech crystal. They are connected to the hypo allergenic surgical steel ear wires by a strand of beads and 4mm amethyst fire polished Czech crystals. They are a little less than 3 inches (7.62 cm.) long.

This embroidery time on this necklace is approximately 30 hours.
