Genuine 8mm baroque pearls and four large amethyst nuggets are the focal points in this abstract, one of a kind, circular, bead embroidered brooch. Matte grape size 11 seed beads combine in wavy lines with pearl white seed beads and size 15 silver lined purple seed beads to give this brooch sparkle and texture. The irregular shape of the amethyst nuggets are a contrast to the smoothness of the baroque pearls. This brooch can be worn in several ways.


The brooch is 3 inches (7.62 cms.) in diameter. The size and vibrant color make a bold statement. Pearls, amethysts and the color purple have been associated with royalty for hundreds of years. the birthstone for February is amethyst, while the birthstone for June is pearl. It was embroidered on white interfacing. The backing is a soft, off white ultra suede. The pin back is one inch (2.54 cms.) long.


t is believed that amethyst can magnify physic abilities and strengthen immunities while energizing and purifying the blood.
One of my favorite legends involving amethyst is this one. Dionysus was angered by an insult from a mere mortal, so he created fierce tigers to attack the next mortal who crossed his path. Along came a beautiful, unsuspecting maiden, Amethyst, who was on her way to pay tribute to the goddess Diana. To protect her, Diana turned her into a statue of beautiful crystalline quartz. When he saw this beautiful statue, Dionysus wept tears of wine in remorse, staining the statue purple and into the gemstone we know today.


It is believed that pearls help eliminate emotional imbalances and to give wisdom through experience. In ancient Greece, it was believed that pearls were the tears of the gods.
