A pear shaped faceted emerald briolette is the focal stone of this one of a kind, bead embroidered brooch. The facets catch light at different angles to add flashes of sparkle. Green seed beads in different shades, textures and sizes, along with silver lined gold seed beads in different sizes are used for the bead embroidery. Matte and transparent emerald green in size 11 beads are mixed with size 15 emerald green seed beads to highlight the green in the emerald. The silver lined gold seed beads that are used to add sparkle and to highlight the different green seed beads are size 11 and size 13. The size 13 beads are called three cuts, because like the emerald briolette, they too, are faceted. The different sizes and finishes combine to add texture to this brooch. Genuine emerald chips hang from three strands of silver lined gold bead fringe. Emeralds are the birthstone for those born in May.

The total length of this brooch is 4 1/4 inches (approx. 11.18 cm.) to the tip of the longest fringe. It is approximately 2 1/4 inches (approx. 5.81cm.) wide at the widest point.

The embroidery is done on white interfacing and backed with a dark green ultra suede. It fastens with a basic pin back.

Color is the main consideration when looking at emeralds. A good grade stone should be a medium to dark to bluish green. This briolette has that coloring. It also has the inclusions that help guarantee it is a genuine stone.
