These hand beaded origami crane charms are made from a mix of paper, some upcycled. Papers include washi paper from Japan, origami paper from Japan, upcycled Japanese advertisements and upcycled English translated manga. The washi, origami, and upcycled advertisement papers all were brought back to the States by Miyu-chan and originate mostly from Western Japan, including Kamakura, Osaka, and Kyoto.

They are a sign of good luck and hope for wishes to come true, and make great wedding or party favors. This listing is for 3 origami crane charms / crane ornaments selected at random. If you want to specify any specific color or type of paper, we will try to accommodate based on what we have on hand. Each crane is hand folded and hand beaded with a ribbon loop at the top and a tiny bell at the bottom. Some charms contain one crane, others have two. Each one is unique; Miyu-chan studied the pattern of the paper and then hand-selected beads, bells, and ribbon to complement. Each one is as colorful and elegant as the most beautiful kimono. Because each crane is handmade, the length of each crane varies, but most are around 2 1/2 to 3 inches long, not counting the ribbon loop.

Japanese legend holds that if you fold a thousand cranes, your wish will come true. Miyu-chan hand folded the cranes, putting her hope for good luck and prosperity into each one. Inspired by the beauty of the kimono she saw and studied while in Japan, she hand beaded each one to convey the beautiful colors and shapes on the silk and chirimen fabrics that captivated her. .~* Care and Feeding of Your Crane *~.

The cranes are made of various types of paper, most of which are matte (not glossy). We recommend that the cranes be kept dry. The cranes are fairly sturdy but can be torn or smashed if you put enough effort into it, so please handle with some care. The beads are acrylic and not breakable. Like all our other products that contain beadwork, crane charms contain small parts and should be kept safely away from small children and pets.
