Rhinemaidens are the guardians of the Rhine gold as depicted in Richard Wagner's opera cycle Der Ring des Nibelungen. They are often portrayed as three water nymphs or mermaids. They are portrayed as flawed guardianship of the Rhine gold, and the under the conditions (the renunciation of love) the gold could be stolen from them and then transformed into a means of obtaining world power. Unlike other Nordic characters in the opera, the Rhinemaidens appear to have been invented entirely from Wagner's imagination. The illustration is by Arthur Rackham, as he saw them.


Ring cabochon measures 18mm x 13mm and is magnified by a glass cabochon. Ring is about a size 8 but is adjustable to any size.
