These chunk votive candles were scented with Absinthe poured over Sugar scented wax chunks. There is a dusting of fairy glitter on top. Absinthe is an aromatic blend of just the right combination of star anise, fennel, spicy cinnamon cassia, nutmeg, melissa, fresh green herbal notes, with base notes of amber and woods. Each votive weighs about 2 ozs. The wax is a blend of soy wax and recycled paraffin.The votives measure 2" high x 1 3/4" high. I use no lead zinc wicks, which stand nicely on their own and have a nice bright burn. They come packaged in a decorative cellophane bag, Remember, absinthe makes the heart grow fonder!

For the best burn it is recommended to burn votives in a container.

The story of the "Green Fairy" is quite fascinating. Absinthe became a symbol of defying convention, and a companion to the poets, painters and other free thinkers of 1890's Paris, France. Absinthe influenced artists like Degas, Manet, Van Gogh, Picasso, and writers like Verlaine, Rimbaud, Wilde, Hemingway and many others. The fairy became a welcome symbol of transformation and was eventually prohibited by the closed minds of the time. The traditional way to drink Absinthe is to place an absinthe spoon over a glass and slowly drip cold water through the sugar cube to disolve it into the absinthe.
