The Albino Raven mask is a whimsical tribute to a rare, intelligent, and beautiful bird.  This handmade leather mask is a perfect centerpiece for an elegant and unique costume suitable for Carnival, Mardi Gras, Halloween, larp (live action role play) or a masquerade wedding.  Shimmering white with a pale pink beak and pink feather details, this mask can be worn as a raven or a crow, by a woman or a man (who is comfortable enough with his masculinity not to be intimidated by a hue).  :-)  This high-quality handcrafted work of art can be displayed in your home when it is not being worn.  

The Albino Raven mask design was cut from vegetable-tanned leather, the details meticulously carved, and the mask wet-formed by hand.  It was then painted in many layers of white.  (As you know if you've ever painted darker walls white, it takes several layers to get a solid color, which is why the Albino Raven mask costs a bit more than its black counterpart.)  The top coat is a shimmering white (with the beak a very pale pink), and the carved details have been lightly shaded with pink (to reflect a common feature of albinism).  The mask is sealed to protect the paint, and finished with white organdy ties.  It is lightweight, slightly flexible, and designed to fit the average grown face.

Albinism is a congenital disorder that hinders the body's ability to produce melanin, resulting in little or no color in the skin, hair, and eyes. It has been known to affect all vertebrate species, but is fairly rare (presumably due to natural selection and the albino animals' lack of camouflage).

My leather masks are designed to handle normal wear, but please don't wear them in a rainstorm or immerse them in liquid, as too much moisture can damage the leather and/or dyes. I provide a piece of sticky-back felt with each mask purchase, which you can use to customize the comfort of your mask if necessary.
