Miss Flora Fox likes ballet and working on whittling projects. Recently she finished carving a salad bowl.

She is made of rich red-brown organic cotton velour, and stuffed with washable polyfill. Her nose and the tip of her tail are white, and her ears are lined with striped pink linen. Note that fabric for ear lining changes based on availability. The grey lining included in some of the images above is no longer available. She is 15" from ear to toe. Her eyes and nose are hand-embroidered with cotton thread. If necessary, you can hand-wash Flora.

Flora's dress is made of soft cotton lawn. It has a little fluffy dots woven in. It opens and closes with a snap in the back. Like all Hazel Village clothes, Flora's dress is removable so the animals can share and trade.

Flora will travel to you in a reusable cotton bag with a lavender and mint sachet tucked inside. She will NOT come with a whittling knife, much to her dismay. I told her that when she arrives at her new home, maybe you can work something out.

Jane, not Hazel, is the creator of these wonderful creatures. Jane lives in a little house in Brooklyn, NY. In the garret of said house she makes many of these animals herself. She stitches them up on an old industrial sewing machine, then stuffs them and does the details by hand. She makes their clothes out of the best scraps she has saved. Then she writes little stories for them. When someone orders one she packs it up with cool stamps on the box, and ships it off. Jane's creations have become so popular that she has entered into a relationship with an ethical factory in India to help her keep up with the volume of orders. Currently foxes, mice, mushrooms, and birds are made in India. The workers there make the animals the same way she does, machine sewing them first from organic cotton, then stitching the faces by hand. The frogs, raccoons, bunnies, and all the clothes are still made in NY.

Safety: Technically, Hazel Village animals are stuffed figures, not toys! That said, many have been given to small children without incident. They are made from organic cotton, and their hand-stitched faces have no bits that a baby could rip off and eat. Some of the premium editions have delicious looking buttons on their clothes, though. Please take the clothes off before giving those animals to a small baby. You can save them and give them back when the baby is older.

Care: If you put Hazel Village animals in the washing machine or the dryer, all the stuffing in their necks will move into their heads and bodies, and they will look scary. So we don't recommend it. Instead, we recommend hand washing in hot soapy water. You can scrub them as hard as necessary. Then rinse them well, squeeze all the water out, and put them somewhere warm and dry for a few hours.
