Vintage Pink Angel Skin Coral Beads, Vintage Green Iridescent Abalone Shell Dangles

Negimauro is a sushi roll made from fresh tuna and scallions - this image immediately came to mind when naming these earrings because of the luscious vibrant colors of these two vintage beads .

The vintage angel skin pink coral beads measure approximately 8mm in diameter and weigh a total of 1.7 grams.
Coral is the hard skeleton created by tiny marine organisms known as "coral polyps". Corals live in warm water oceans all over the world,and their habitat has been steadily disappearing because of human water pollution and over fishing. Since coral collection and mining was banned worldwide in 1992, it is very difficult to find such beads as these in the bead trade! The U.S also currently has a ban on importing corals . We do have the documentation to show that these beads were purchased by us in 1984.Next to red (oxblood) and dark orange, angel skin ( pink and white ) is the most desired and most valuable. Increasing popularity and decreasing supply has driven up coral prices dramatically in the last few years.

Fine quality angel skin coral like this is virtually unobtainable nowadays.

Dangling below these lovely vintage beads are green iridescent spears of paua abalone shell which are approximately 1 3/4" long and approximately 3/8" in width.
There are ornate gold plated pewter beads both top and bottom of the coral bead adding an interesting texture.

Total length of these earrings is approximately 2 1/2" in length and they have been finished on gold plated french ear wires.
They will arrive in a little box all ready for gift giving.
