The characteristic banding of Malachite is evident in the 12mm hearts used in this pair of Duets. Accents of smaller Malachite heart beads, sterling Bali Beads, and tiny, shiny round beads, chain and ear wires of sterling silver complete the picture. The larger earring is about 1-1/2 inches (approx. 3.8cm) from the top of the French ear wire to the tip of the bead with chain attached and leading up to the smaller component for the second piercing. The photo shows the suggested way to wear your Duets, but they can be reversed for a different look. I have been making Duets for over twenty years and they are always a big hit at my arts and crafts shows. Need a special color? Ask.

Malachite is a deep emerald green usually with banding. It is found in Australia, England, France, Namibia, South Africa, Russia, Zaire, Zimbabwe, and the US. Folklore tells us that Malachite was once attached to cradles of infants and made into amulets for children. Ancient Greeks believed it to ward off danger, illness and black magic.
