Product Description
This pot of wheat grass is size "medium/large." Large (L) will stretch comfortably 20-24 inches and has the following approximate measurements: 20 inches un-stretched circumference at the forehead, 7 inches from cast on edge to top edge, 8 inches across the flat top. Medium (M) will stretch comfortably 18-22 inches and has the following approximate measurements: 18 inches un-stretched circumference at the forehead, 6 inches from cast on edge to top edge, 7 inches across the flat top. This is my original design and although I may repeat it, the colors of the bottom edge and top edge of the pot vary. Each hat is unique and one-of-a-kind. I knit every stitch and it usually takes me 5-7 hours to make this particular style. Determining where to place each blade of wheat grass, deciding its length, then knitting it, is time intensive. And the little earthworm peeking out has to be just right.

I work in the round using double-point needles so that there is no lumpy seam. However, there is a "front" and a "back." Feel along the bottom edge of the hat until you find what feels like a small knot and you will have found the back.

This terra cotta colored hat is worked using an amazingly soft brand of 100% acrylic yarn, as is the "soil" across the top of the hat. As I said, the bottom edge and the top edge of the pot may vary in texture depending on what is available. However, this particular pot of wheat grass is another incredibly soft 100% acrylic that I discovered. The bright green strands of wheat grass are placed in a manner that looks natural and their lengths vary. They are very time intensive, each individually knit. The little earthworm peeks out from the center of the pot.The entire hat is EXTREMELY soft and NOT scratchy or itchy.

I make my hats with a "rolled" bottom edge so that they can be adjustable. If it is a really super cold day, maybe you want to roll the edge down. Also, if the hat is too deep for your head, it can be rolled up. If it is not deep enough for your head, roll it down.

This is a very durable hat and the more it is worn, the softer it becomes. I can promise you, based on the "wear and tear" of a couple of wild outdoor kids, that this hat needs minimal care and cleaning. To clean, gently hand-wash it in cold water, gently wring it to remove excess water, and lay it out to dry. But to keep the shape of the hat and speed the air-drying process, you can scrunch up a small hand towel and put it inside the hat until the hat dries.

If you have any questions at all, please email me and I will be happy to respond as quickly as possible.
Inspiration/Story Behind This Product
I always see those adorable pots of wheat grass at our health food store or the little pots of catnip at the pet store. In the midst of a long, cold winter, I was craving a bit of spring and something to make people smile. And so I challenged myself to design a pot of wheatgrass. But I suppose you cat lovers could call it a pot of catnip.
