A cotton print fabric featuring little paw prints,satin ribbons and silver ric rac adorn this martingale walking lead made to fit an Italian greyhound or other small breed dog. The black webbing base is 600lb test polypropylene. The collar part is 1 1/2 inches wide and about 9 1/2 inches from ring tip to ring tip. This will fit a small dog with a neck size about 10 or 10 1/2 inches to 11 inches. The leash part is made of 3/4 inch webbing about 6 ft long.

A walking lead is made as a single unit. The leash is not detachable.

It is fully lined with the same cotton print fabric and well padded for extra comfort.

What is a Martingale Walking Lead?

A walking lead is a collar/leash unit used for walking. The collar part slips over your dog's head and the small plastic ring on the leash slides up or down to adjust for a snug fit. Candy demonstrates how this is worn. My leads are designed primarily to fit sighthounds (who can easily back out of a regular collar and leash), but also work well on other breeds of dogs.

The Italian greyhound sizes are 1 ½ " or 1 ¼" wide and 7" to 9 ½" from ring tip to ring tip, depending on which lead you choose. Measure at the skinniest point of the neck-usually right behind the ears and again a few inches down where the bottom of the collar will rest. Somewhere between them will determine the correct size. When the slide on the leash is snugged down, it will pull the rings on the collar section together. The rings should not touch. There should be at least a 1/2 space between them. The best fit is about an inch between them

The unit is constructed of 600lb weight polypropylene webbing The leash part is about 6 ft long. The D-rings are light-weight, zinc plated, unwelded steel.

A Word of Caution

All of my leads and collars are fairly wide and well padded. But, be careful of using any type of choke collar on tiny, delicate dogs. If your little guy pulls or struggles in a collar, he could possibly injure his throat. For these types of dogs, a harness or harness vest may be a safer alternative. Etsy is an excellent source for custom made harness vests for little dogs.

Hand wash cold water, hang to dry.
