Highly collectible Stieff Repousse" bar pin. The Sterlig Silver bar pin has a old style "C" clasp and a tube hinge that was used until the 1890's. Stieff Company was in business in Baltimore City, Maryland from 1892 through 1979. They had a widespread reputation as fine silversmiths. I remember my aunt talking me into my grandmother's bedroom and letting me go through her jewelry box. This pin and a gold snake bracelet were my favorites.

Weight: Approx. 15 grams
Size: Approx. 3-1/4 inches long and 1/2 inch at its widest point.

Note: The unusual marking Stieff sterling and other metal.
This refers to the the closure only and I believe it is
silver......just not 92.5 %. Also the pin part of
the closure is bent so that is holds more firmly.
