voking the Northern lights, with forest in silhouette below, this eerie landscape calls to mind every fantasy book I've ever read! Are those twin suns or moons up in the sky? Is this earth or someplace further out in the imagination?? That's up to you!

Based on a series of prints by artist Phoebe Baker (PhoebeDea on Etsy/FeeBeeDee on Redbubble) this OOAK art quilt is constructed out of pieces of the actual print (Suns and trees) and then made from hand-dyed fabrics and batiks from various fiber artists from all around this wonderful country! I love surfing Etsy and Artfire and gathering bits of fabric from all over to use in my art quilts. There are some really great pieces in this one! In addition, I used several different metallic threads to spiral quilt the sky to give it a sense of movement and then after adding extra batting to the forest; I roughly quilted the trees and landscape to show reflection off the branches and rocks.

I grew up spending my summers camping all over Northern Wisconsin and reading was always a part of those lazy summer hours. I was reading Science Fiction/Fantasy in those early Star Wars days (and being treated to the Northern Lights at night) I was always secretly hoping to wake up to see a pair of twin suns. Never got that end of the bargain...sigh. LOL I guess you could say this quilt is "Star Wars meets Northern Lights meets little girl's imagination." I hope you like it as much as I do.

Quilt is 100% cotton, cotton thread, and Warm and Natural cotton batting. Rayon/metallic thread was used in the quilting process. I will treat the quilt with a fabric protectorant if you wish to resist stains and fading. You have your choice of a slat or sleeve for hanging. The quilt is titled, signed and dated with an embroidered patch on the back and is 22" x 31".
