Soft and feminine shades of light mauve, gray and white shell pearls in 8mm sizes are placed in a random pattern. In between the shell pearls are 6mm Czech light amethyst-AB glass pinch beads and 3x5mm silver plated corrugated rondelles. This 20 inch matinee length necklace is finished off with a 20x15mm antique silver plated TierraCast heirloom toggle.

Matching earrings using the Czech light amethyst pinch beads and a white pearl all dangle from a 13mm TierraCast open heart chandelier. I have embellished the .925 22mm sterling silver ear wire with a matching Czech bead. The overall length is approximately 1 3/4 inches.

The satiny finish of these softly shaded shell pearls pair perfectly with the soft matte finish of the Czech pinch beads.

The shell pearl is laboratory made from the shell of an oyster. The process of making a shell pearl involves several different stages. The raw material for the base of the pearl is the sea shell, which is coated and polished to the final shape of the pearl. In order to produce a good quality pearl, a key ingredient is what we call a 'mother of pearl bead'. This element adds weight, value and durability to the pearl.

TierraCast uses an alloy called Britannia, composed of 92% tin, 7.5 % antimony and .5% copper. Tin is refined from ore that contains other metals, including lead. A chemical process is used to remove the lead, but trace amounts still remain. Only made in the USA.
