I love this painting! It's a Labrador, specifically a silver or grey Labrador retriever which I painted, using photos submitted by a customer. The print is 12x15
on 13x16" glossy photo paper. The acrylic painting features the Labrador, sweetly looking up at the view, as many dogs know how to do so well, with a couple of special toys lying on the floor in the background. I wanted to emphasize the sweet face of the dog, so I brought it up front and close, letting all the other elements of the paint stay well in the background, while still being an important part of the painting.

In addition to my signature in the painting, I have signed the print in the lower border of the print.

Labradors are a type of retriever dog and are to this day one of the most popular dogs in the USA, as well as in Canada and the United Kingdom. While the most well-known colors are black, yellow, and white, silver labs are becoming more and more popular and is accepted by the AKC. They are prized not only as hunting dogs, for which they were originally bred, but are wonderful household pets as well. I personally have had a lab, and I can vouch for their steadfastness, friendliness, their goofy side, too, their loyalty and gentleness with children, and their sweet temperament. It's no wonder that they're such popular and beloved dogs.

For me, as a dog artist, I especially enjoyed doing this acrylic painting. I love paintings where I can focus on the shape of the dog's body and head, and short-haired breeds such as labs are perfect for this kind of work. And the toys, well, they just added a lot of fun to an already great pose! I enjoyed painting this beautiful labrador retriever and hope you enjoy it, too.
