Product Description
We most often see photos and images of the front of flowers; for this photo, I chose instead to photograph the back of the bloom, which was just as beautiful as its front. Like a soloist, the soft pink bloom rises into the center of the photograph, lifted by a slender, fuzzy stem that's almost purple in colour. As for the flower itself, pale, almost cotton-candy pink and darker lilac-coloured petals alternate in a fashion reminiscent of a pinwheel.

The petals of the unknown flower in my photograph--it had been near a label identifying it as plumeria, but I've been warned that this is not the case, so perhaps this has outgrown its bounds--have a lovely texture. We can see dark pink veins on the petals, running from the stem to the edges, some of which are curving backward. The pale pink petals of the bloom are broad, and one is almost heart-shaped; the darker, almost purple petals feature pointed tips.

Little dots cover the back of the dark, purplish petals, but most wondrous of all is the very fine fuzz covering the back of this flower's petals! It's soft and short, giving the pink flower a bit of sparkle in the sunlight, but on this cloudy day the source of the glitter was quite obvious. This fine down so intrigued me that I couldn't help reaching out to touch it after taking this photograph, and I was rewarded by learning that the hidden, forgotten backs of flowers are as velvet-soft as we could hope.

Printed on archival-quality 8x10 lustre photograph paper, this botanical photo has a white border for easy framing and to protect your art from errant fingerprints. I sign, date, and number the back of each photo prior to mailing.

This photo is also available in 5x7. If you'd like it in another size, please send me an email via one of the "contact seller" buttons, which may be found near this page's upper right-hand corner and at the bottom of the page.

Inspiration/Story Behind This Product
As I noted in the description for this garden flower photograph, it had sprung up near a sign labeling it as plumeria; happily, a customer contacted me to warn that this was not the case. Unfortunately, neither of us are certain as to the true identity of this pink beauty; some day, I'm sure, I'll figure it out.

This photograph was taken in the gardens of the Frick Mansion in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Apparently, I never did find the actual plumeria blooms!
