Product Description
Step back into yesteryear with this 8x10 golden sepia art photo of a handsome 1942 Hudson Super Six Commodore. Looking up at the car from the rear fender, we see a trio of American flags standing proudly behind the triple-split rear window of the classic car. Thanks to bright afternoon sunlight, we can see the center Old Glory reflected in the Commodore's burgundy paint, superimposed over the reflection of the trees and sky above the vintage automobile.

While working on this classic car photo, I couldn't help but get the feeling that this beautiful Hudson could have been decked out for a parade-perhaps a hero's hometown homecoming parade after the war, or a Memorial Day or Independence Day parade. The '42 Hudson's steel body and chrome trim gleam in the sunlight, and you can see in the photo a few halos of light where the Commodore reflects the sun itself. The golden sepia tones seemed right for this particular piece of vintage car art; somehow, it makes it so easy for one's mind to slip back to another time. In my mind's eye, I can see families lining the street, waving small flags themselves, the children cheering as this patriotic Hudson rolls by.

When introduced in September of 1941, Hudson Motor Cars and the other automakers had no idea what would happen just a few months later. After Pearl Harbor, automakers agreed to black-out all chrome trim on their vehicles; by February of 1942, Hudson switched their production, which already included aircraft assemblies and anti-aircraft machine guns, entirely over from handsome cars to munitions, aircraft engines, and other military necessities. The alluring Hudson Commodore in this classic car art photo was likely one of the last Hudsons produced in Detroit before the blackout orders.

Professionally printed on archival-quality 8x10 photo paper, this classic car art photo has a white border for ease of framing and to protect the image itself. I sign, date, and number each photo on back prior to mailing it. If you're interested in another size, please send me a note, as I usually have other sizes in stock.

Inspiration/Story Behind This Product
Out for nothing more exciting than an afternoon drive in my then-home state of West Virginia, I stumbled across one of my great foibles: a classic car show! Though I hadn't my best camera with me (of course-last time I ever made that mistake, believe me), I stopped regardless, and spent a wonderful afternoon talking with the owners of the stunning classic cars I photographed. To stumble across this '42 Hudson was a special treat, as Hudson is one of my favourite car marques. The owner was very kind, and even dropped the Commodore's hood so I could get nice photos of the front end!
