Sunset Pelican Diamond Glass Pendant Iridescent Art Glass and Sterling Silver. This is a large diamond shaped fused glass pendant with sterling silver wire wrap bail featuring a pelican sitting on a piling backed with the blues and purples of a beautiful sunset. The screen printed enamel pelican decal on this pendant is a permanently fused part of the glass and will not fade or wear off.

I created this pendant in my home studio first layering the glass pieces and fusing them many times using proper annealing techniques for strength and durability. Next I cut and shaped the pendant into a diamond shape. After another trip to the kiln with the addition of the screen print enamel decal the pendant was ready to be finished. I cut a grove into the sides and wrapped sterling silver wire around the piece completed with a stylish bail.

The pendant measures 2.5in (6.3cm) from top to bottom and 1.5in (3.8cm) across. Your necklace will be completed with a complimentary 18in (45.7cm) cord so it can be worn immediately.

I watched the pelican as it soared gracefully over the beach as the sun was setting. Such an awkward looking bird with its long neck and beak and short, squat body. But in the air it was powerful and graceful and the dives into the water were perfection. As the sun set, I watched the bird settle onto a piling and relax into the evening. I decided it was probably time for me to do the same.
