These stamps are made from 9mm round heat-treated tool steel. This stamp design is 5mm in diameter.

Stamping on metal, like any other form of art is a learned process. Design stamps can be especially challenging.

Here are some tips to help you get the best out of your design stamps:
Use a steel bench block
Make sure there is no padding under your bench block
Make sure you are working on a stable table
Use a heavy hammer (at least 16 oz)
You can hit the stamp more than once, but make sure you hold the stamp steady and don't move between blows
Find some scrap metal (copper works well) and practice, practice, practice before you work on your final piece

Care of your stamps: If you live in a humid area or near the ocean, to prevent rust, you should rub a light coating of WD-40 or a similar lubricant onto your stamp shank and face before storing.
