Extra, extra large watermelon tourmaline slice has a drill across one end so that it can be strung as a pendant, but if you prefer, for instance, to wrap it, that's fine- the drill is through the dark part, and won't show through the stone at all.

The wide outer ring is virtually black, then there's a thin green circle, then the pink center. Some of the green comes into the pink, making a soft blending transition of color.

This gemstone hangs one and one eighth inches (1 1/8") long, and is a natural, organic shape. The white spots you see in the photos are light sparkles. Sorry, but I want to leave the stone real, even if it is huge!

Tourmaline slices this huge, with watermelon colors, completely natural, are an amazing find! So when I came across these, well, I had to bring them back! There were just a few of these gemstones, and I got the entire lot. Once they're gone, they're gone.

Natural tourmaline

Tourmaline has arguably the widest range of color of any of the gemstones out there, and that says quite a lot, since many of them are very multi-colored. When many people think of tourmaline, the first thing that crosses their minds is watermelon tourmaline, which has the pink, green, and sometimes white mix, but the Paraiba blue from Brasil is another very well-known color. Because they are so often multi-colored, many lapidary artists plan the cutting of tourmaline to take advantage of this.

Tourmaline comes from many different places, but Brasil is probably the best-known.
