Associated with the sun during the Renaissance Period, sunstone was associated with the sun because of its brilliant, sparkling orange color. Folklore credits it with increasing general and sexual energy.

On the scientific side, sunstone is a feldspar, and it is the almost microscopic inclusions of copper that cause the shimmer. This effect is called "schiller" and is incredibly wonderful!
