Sweaters got shorter and tighter during the 1940s to conserve yarn! Everyone was doing their part for the war effort. Did they know they were creating a cultural icon at the same time?

These wonderful designs are rescued from a tattered vintage 1944 Botany Worsted Mills monthly pattern book.

The pinup collection includes four OOP patterns for crew neck sweater variations including:

~Monogram Crew
~Crew with Rib Shoulder Interest
~Cable stitch Crew
~Polo Neck style sweater with collar

**all patterns are sized for a 34 inch bust measurement.

I rescued this wonderful pattern from a vintage knitting catalog that was published in 1944. There are so many wonderful treasures just waiting to be found when sorting through vintage estates. I love to find these and put them in a format that preserves them and protects them from the ravages of time and, heaven forbid, the dumpster when an unsuspecting relative doesn't know what they have found.
