1901 Antique Coiffe Limoges Porcelain Creamer and Sugar 2-Piece Set, Hand Painted Signed and Dated by Miss Sadie Thompson

An Edwardian lady paints Limoges and Sadie Thompson was an Edwardian lady.

I do not know anything about Ms. Thompson but for this beautiful creamer and sugar set she painted in 1901.

Delicate in cream and lavender, sage green and violet ~ sweet porcelain pieces from Coiffe Limoges of France, with intricate Art Nouveau profiles.

Sadly, the lid for the sugar bowl is missing. Happily, this does not diminish the beauty of these two pieces, sugar bowl and creamer. And, happily for you, the missing lid reduces the price greatly.

The two pieces here are quite perfect ~ no chips, cracks, fractures, or repairs. The ornate edging is lovely and smooth. The paint on both is in wonderful condition. The violets and leaves are sweetly shabby.

Still wonderful for the table as the creamer and sugar they were meant to be, or perhaps you'll use at your desk or dressing table as a sweet caché, for your brushes, make-up or paint.

Sugar Bowl ~
2.75" base to rim
4" at its widest
2.75" opening
Capacity about 1 cup

Creamer ~
2.875" wide opening
5.5" wide, handle to pour
3.125" high, base to pour
3.875" high, base to handle top
Capacity about 1 cup

Clean hallmark on the reverse of both pieces clearly identify Coiffe Limoges and, of course, Sadie Thompson's wonderful signature and dating of 1901 is also on both pieces.

Inspiration/Story Behind This Product
The Coiffe factory made many porcelain blanks decorated by other companies so many times an accompanying mark will identify the decorating factory. Coiffe blanks were also exported to America for use by both novice and professional china painters at the turn of the last century.
