Vintage 1983 Kay Nielsen French Fairy Tale Lithographs From In Powder and Crinoline For "Minon Minette"

A luscious 2-sided paper featuring two wonderful and wonderfully romantic illustrations from Kay Nielsen, gleaned from a damaged 1983 reference on children's book illustrators.

Both gorgeous prints are from the same classic French fairy tale, 'Minon-Minette', and the originals were included in the 1913 edition of Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch book, 'In Powder and Crinoline'. Their captions read ~

"Ah, Princess! ... surely you are not running away from me"

and

'Princess Diaphanie walking in the garden'

The heavy, 2-sided paper measures 8.25" x 9.125" (18x23 cm), and there are no tears, folds, creases, or marks.

Inspiration/Story Behind This Product
Kay Rasmus Nielsen (Danish illustrator, 1886-1957) was popular in the early 20th century during the "Golden Age of Illustration", which lasted from when printing pioneers developed technology to the point that drawings and paintings could be reproduced with reasonable facility.

He joined the ranks of Arthur Rackham and Edmund Dulac in enjoying the success of the gift books of the early 20th century.

Nielsen is also known for his collaborations with Disney for whom he contributed many story sketches and illustrations, including his work on "Fantasia" ('Night on Bald Mountain').
