Before the widespread development of modern interior decoration, builders and home-owners often relied on commercially available stencils to decorate ceilings and walls of houses and other structures. This volume reproduces two rare catalogs of such stencils, manufactured ca 1918 and ca 1920 by H. Roessing of Chicago, Illinois, USA.

Over 2,200 stencil designs include an enormous variety of attractive and boldly printed images: ornamental borders, corners and frames with intricate floral and foliage patterns, architectural ornaments and design elements, religious symbols and figures, numerous animals, mosaics, landscapes and much more.

This is a book for the pro and soon-to-be pro designer and artist and is definitely not for the faint of heart. Some of the stencil designs are small and none have instructions. The results will be fantastic for you, your art, embroidery, stenciling .

This is not my photograph ~ I have used the photograph from Amazon's listing ~ the book is new and unused. It has *not* been opened and to scan it for you I would have had to "break its back".

It's really quite perfect ~ no tears, creases, folds, or marks. I don't think the book has ever been opened. Over two thousand gorgeous black and white illustrations!
