Antique 1885 Victorian Era Engraved Map Featuring the World of Ancient Greece

I love maps. There is a romance to them ~ illustrated journeys to places far-away and unknown; adventures forever laying in wait for me.

From 1885, a beautiful Victorian-er German map detailing the beautiful world of "Alt-Griechenland" ~ Ancient Greece ~ gleaned from a discarded set of German reference books.

The paper itself is quite nice ... smooth and clear, showing gentle edge tanning. The printing is bright and clear, the cartography is wonderfully detailed. And all those old-time map colors we love ~ the lake blue, buttery yellow, the creamy white, crisp black. An altogether beautiful map.

There is a natural horizontal center crease where the map was bound onto a tab and which, in turn, was bound into the book ~ that crease is clean and smooth, showing little wear. The map edges are clean and smooth. Some light tanning can be seen on the creamy outer margins ~ nothing of significance and matting or framing will easily see to this.

The heavy paper measures 9.5" x 11.75" (24x30 cm) when opened and is blank on the reverse. The fold is as noted and there are no marks, creases, tears, or other folds.

Also included are the "Registers" ~ the log of cities of Ancient Greece and their map locations.

You are purchasing an original 1885 paper and it does not have watermarks. I'll send this out for you flat, protected, and by USPS 1st Class mail.
