Product Description
Two charming Miska Petersham lithographs, gleaned from a 1927 collection of children's poems, stories, fables, songs, and art from Holland.

A beautiful 2-sided paper ~ 2 darling and wonderfully frame-worthy lithographs. Both darling images will be wonderful for your art. The two illustrations - one crayon-color washed and shabbily cottage sweet ~ children quietly posed on the breeze blown grasses overlooking the ocean. The second lithograph is a grandfatherly study in black and white, accompanied by a poem.

Petersham's work is charmingly simple and remains absolutely timeless. The heavy paper measures 8" x 10.875" (20x28 cm), and is smooth and clear, showing little tanning.

The edges are clean and smooth, the lithography is strong and clear, and the colors are sweet and bright. There are no folds, tears, mark, or creases on the paper.

The image will be a delightful subject to frame and gift to a new mother for the little one's nursery or perhaps for your own little one's room. Altogether wonderful for your art ~ for your card and tag creations, for your scrap book page making; for collage and decoupage.

You are purchasing an original 1927 paper and it does not have watermarks. I will send this to you flat, protected, and by USPS 1st Class mail.

Inspiration/Story Behind This Product
Author and illustrator Miska Petersham was born in 1888. He graduated from the Budapest Academy of Art in Hungary and immigrated to the United States in 1912. He worked as a commercial artist until marrying Maud and beginning a career in children's books.

They went on to become a Caldecott Medal winning team. Their old world-styled, detailed illustrations for their series of informational storybooks set a new standard in nonfiction for children. An American ABC won a Caldecott Honor in 1941 and The Rooster Crows: a Book of American Rhymes and Jingles was awarded the Caldecott Medal in 1946.

The husband/wife team produced picture books for more than 30 years. Miska died in 1960.
