Antique Jasperware Edwardian Sage Green Plaque Featuring a Dancing, Joyous Cherub

A darling diaphanous clad cherub in a gorgeous 3-D pose frolics amidst butterflies and flowers on a sage green Jasperware Edwardian plaque. The plaque's shape is wonderfully Edwardian and the detailing is gorgeous. This Jasperware plaque is in excellent condition, unmarked but undoubtedly German (Volkstedt) in origin.

Measures approximately 6.5" (16.5 cm) in height and 6.75" (17.1 cm) wide and approximately 1" (2.54 cm) deep.

This antique Volkstedt plaque (ca. 1895-1905) is modelled with a very 3 dimensional cherub, dancing light and appearing to float in mid-air. The plaque is in excellent condition with the little toes and fingers, butterfly wings, and flower petals smooth and beautiful.

Very often Volkstedt Jasperware plaques are mistaken for Wedgwood ~ they were made to emulate the famous Wedgwood Jasperware. But, because many of the best Volkstedt plaques feature flowing cherubs and lovely ladies, many consider them more desirable than Wedgwood's ... and this one is delicious! I hope you love it!
