This is Squidy the sea monster. He is a very friendly little cephalopod with big orange eyes, eight tentacles and a pointy squishy head. He is never happier than when he is sunbathing on a rock in the shallows of a rockpool. He is good friends with Captain Strongy Von Strong. They met when Strongy was a Captain of a steam tug boat. Squidy was living on one of the shipwrecks that Strongy was salvaging. He wasn't happy at first that he needed to find a new home, but Von Strong took him to a beautiful island where there was lots of food and other squid to be friends with, so it all turned out well in the end.

Squidy main body measures 9 cm (3.5 inches) long and 7 cm (2.75 inches) wide. He is 24.5 cm (9.5 inches) from the tip of his head to the ends of his tentacles.

He was crochet from a wool mix yarn of multicolours, red, orange, maroon, green and white and has large orange and black saftey eyes. He is stuffed with polyester that conforms to the fire retardancy standard BS5852-2

I watched a film about squid and other cephalopods. It was fascinating and I wanted to make one and that's how Squidy came to be made.
