Avast me hearties! If you are looking for a hat that makes a statement, this is the one. This bright red tall top hat really stands out. It has a large royal blue felt skull and crossbones sewn with matching red thread to the side, making it perfect for all you Pirate Pixie Crew members out there. The hat is wide at the top and tapers down to the hat base in a Mad Hatter style, where it then curves out into a small brim. Being 18.5 cm (7.25 inches) tall and is 31.5 cm (12.5 inches) around the hat band means this is a tall thin hat.

These hats are perfect for pinning to your hair, to go with a special outfit, or to wear attached to falls or dreads that have been tied up. They are great for fancy dress, clubbing , atop of a burlesque / belly dancing outfit or just every day wear for your average Pirate Pixie. There are so many ways to wear them and they look really cute!

This hat comes with a pinning strip around the inside of its brim (hair pins are not provided with the hat), but it can be attached to a hair comb or Alice band if you prefer. Leave a message in the customer notes if you would like me to do this.

The process of making these hats is fairly long and uses a large amount of yarn. Firstly the hat gets hand knitted to about twice the size the finished product will be and then it is hand felted down to its finished size. This can take two or three washings and drying to achieve the finished size. I do not machine wash them to do this as I have found that it ruins the colours.
