This is the largest "mini" hat I have made. It was designed for people with dreadlocks as it will sit beautifully atop of a large topknot of dreads, but equally it would work as a bold statement on any head. It has the most beautiful mix of rich reds, oranges and purples (that some how the camera will just not do justice to) in the 100% wool self patterning yarn that I made the hat with. It was felted down to a softer felt than some of the others, which gives it some flexibility so it has that Artful Dodger shape. It is undecorated, allowing you to either customise it your self or if you would like me to do that, I can do it to your specifications.

This hat is 14cm (5.5 inches) tall and the outer hat band measurement is 46cm (18 inches) and as this hat is quite large I'll give you the internal hat band measurement, which is 41 cm (16 inches), just in case you know someone with a small enough head to wear it as a conventional hat.

The mini hats are perfect for pinning to your hair, to go with a special outfit, or to wear attached to falls or dreads that have been tied up. They are great for fancy dress, clubbing or to top of a burlesque / belly dancing outfit. There are so many ways to wear them and they look really cute!

This hat comes with a pinning strip around the inside of its brim (hair pins are not provided with the hat), but it can be attached to a hair comb or Alice band if you prefer. Leave a message in the customer notes if you would like me to do this.

The process of making these hats is fairly long and uses a large amount of yarn. Firstly the hat gets hand knitted to about twice the size the finished product will be and then it is hand felted down to its finished size. This can take two or three washings and drying to achieve the finished size. I do not machine wash them to do this as I have found that it ruins the colours.

I have a friend who has the most beautiful dreads that she piles high on her head and I knew for her and people like her the very tiny mini hats would just look lost, so I designed this much bigger one for the ladies lucky enough to have beautiful bountiful dreadlocks.
