Do you have kids that wont eat their greens? Are vegetables a foreign concept in your home? Well how about starting off with these cute crochet peas in a pod. There are five peas all slightly different in size that fit together snugly in their pod.

If you have a family that loves their veg as much as mine do and you grow your own peas, you could hide these in amongst the pea plants before sending the kids out to pick the peas for supper. Imagine their excitement at finding them there.

The peas, and the pod, were crochet from green acrylic yarn and have 2 black safety eyes each. They are stuffed with polyester fibres that conform to the BS5852-2 fire retardancy standards.

The peas range. The sizes are listed below from the largest to the smallest:-
The largest pea measures 4.5 cm (1.75 inches) tall with a circumference of 15.5 cm (6 inches).
Pea 2 is 3.5 cm (1.25 inches) tall with a circumference of 12.5 cm (4.75 inches)
Pea 3 stands at 3.5 cm (1.25 inch) tall with a circumference of 12 cm (4.75 inches)
Pea 4 stands at 3.5 cm (1.25 inch) tall with a circumference of 10.5 cm (4 inches)
Pea 5 stands at 3 cm (1.15 inch) tall with a circumference of 9 cm (3.5 inches)
The pod, when laid flat, measures 20.5 cm (8 inches) long by 8 cm (3 inches)

These Peas are NOT suitable for children under the age of 36 months.

Whilst planting out my veg last year my neighbours children kept asking me what I was doing, why and would they be able to try some of what grows. It became apparent to me that a lot of children now days do not know where their food comes from as they have only ever seen it packaged up in a supermarket. I promised myself I would make some crochet or knitted vegetables to encourage children to get more interested in where their food comes from. I was planning to put a packet of seeds for the type of veg in with the crochet ones, but I have since been told that I cannot do that because of seed importing laws, and as I sell a lot of my goodies from this shop to overseas customers I would be breaking import laws in many countries. So I have decided to send out instructions on how to grow the vegetable with them instead.

Get some vegetables in your life with these cute little amigurumi Peas in a Pod. Use these soft crochet toys to teach your children all about how the vegetables grow and how they get from where they are grown to your home, better still grow some vegetables with your childrens help. Even if you have no garden many mini veg varieties can be grown in pots on a window sill or balcony. Its great fun and they taste great!
