Carry your gear in a durable black shopping tote bag. This one has been embroidered with a beautiful green, yellow, and black birdwing butterfly resting on a fern.

Polkadot Orchid Embroidery's butterfly tote bag is light and strong. It has been constructed using the same durable, sturdy materials used in most backpacks: 600 denier polyester and webbing. It has a similar capacity to a grocery tote, though in a different configuration. Compared to a grocery tote, our bag is shorter and has a wider base to prevent tipping. It is an ideal configuration to use as a re-useable shopping bag.

This shopping bag is also versatile with three pockets in addition to the main compartment. One tall pocket is on the side, which is big enough to hold a checkbook and some pens. There are also two small interior pockets, which are good for holding keys, a cell phone, or business cards.

One side of the black tote bag has been embroidered with a fern and a colorful goliath birdwing butterfly (Ornithoptera goliath). The fern leaves have been rendered in two shades of grey-green, while the butterfly has a striking pattern of black, yellow, and green. The lighter colored fern highlights and brings focus to the distinctive wings of the birdwing insect.

At 11 inches wide (28 cm), the goliath birdwing butterfly (Ornithoptera goliath) is the 2nd largest butterfly on earth. Males and females have different color patterns. The male is green, black, and yellow, as on this tote bag, while the females are brown, white, and yellow. All birdwing butterflies are famous for angular wings that make the insects resemble birds in flight.

Goliath birdwings are native to the rainforest island of New Guinea. They are frequently farmed for butterfly exhibits in other parts of the world.
