The body of this roomy handmade tote bag is made from a fabric called Fresh Poppies designed by Amy Butler. To compliment the poppy fabric, I used a lovely creamy batik for the outside pocket and the handles. The lining is made from a solid creamy cotton. The bottom of the bag was made of heavier cotton for strength and durability. Before construction, I quilted the poppy fabric so that there would be a layer of batting between the main fabric and the lining. This batting gives the purse body and substance. There is a layer of batting in the handles as well.

The interior has pockets along one wall. There are two identical medium sized pockets, followed by one pocket in the middle to hold a pen, and one large one for papers or longer items. The bottom is shaped to stand flat and it is easy to find things in the interior of the bag. The fact that the lining is a light color also helps to locate items we need to find.

The measurements of this bag are 10 inches high from a standing position by 16 inches across seam to seam. The bottom when standing is 7.5 inches across. The outside pocket measures 7 inches deep by 5 inches across. The handles are 19 inches from the top of the bag around to the other side. The handles are stitched to the outside from the bottom section, so their total length is 37 inches.

All of the fabric used plus the batting are 100% cotton. This bag can be hand washed and hung to dry.

This bag would make a fabulous gift for any occasion. It's soft spring look just shouts Easter and Mothers Day.
