Occupied Japan Bisque Collectible Hand Painted Figurine of Boy Hiker, very colorful and charming. This vintage occupied Japan figurine was made sometime between 1945 and 1952 during the occupation of Japan and shortly after the war ended. There are a few explanations for why these items were marked in this way, one being it was required for export. Another viewpoint was that in order to help sales of Japanese imports during the war years adding Made in Occupied Japan would somewhat soften the negative impact of items related to Japan. Some items were marked this way as late as 1955.

This sweet little hiker is made to resemble the popular Hummel figurines. He is wearing a jade green jacket with a light yellow shirt and black shorts and has on white socks with blue accents and is wearing brick red snowshoes that match the jaunty kerchief tied at his throat. He carries a walking stick and brown knapsack on his back on his head he wears a light grey hat. This vintage hand painted Japan Bisque hiker looks like he is ready to spend the day hiking through the snowy mountain tracks on a warm spring day.

This occupied Japan collectible is marked on the bottom, and is in excellent condition. The hiker stands approximately 4 ¾" tall and his feet form a base of 2 ½" wide. He will be a little colorful piece of history to add some whimsy to your home.

I just love how vibrant the colors are after all these years and the condition is perfect. I can't help but hear a song in my head I learned in grade school by Friedrich W. Mueller, Lyrics by Antonia Ridge © 1954 Bosworth & Co.Ltd. Maybe you remember it too?
