Vintage West Bend Retro Oven Server will cause you to swoon over the swanky retro lines of this copper and aluminum warming server. This is a very unique vintage kitchen item, you will use it for keeping dinner rolls warm and serving them in cool retro style. Of course it would be great as a conversation piece for your vintage kitchen as well; it is in absolutely excellent condition. It may have never been used! This Oven Server was first patented in 1938 and this design may be a very early 1940's edition, later styles had a black decal of a woman serving rolls with BUNS in text. I rather prefer this more elegant design with its back accent handles and trim, the polished aluminum base with is shiny pale copper cover is very streamlined. The top handle on the copper cover swivels open to reveal air holes that let steam escape.

This is a 3 piece cooking & serving set. You are able to heat in the oven or on the stove with low heat the inner liner has holes which allow the air between the layers to heat and act like an oven( do not add water) . West Bend claims you can crisp up crackers or chips or serve warm from the oven food like rolls or cookies, use it to heat and warm up store bought or day old baked goods. My mom had one of these and she would also add a small amount of boiling water to the bowl, add the insert and steam hotdog buns.

This vintage West Bend Oven Server is approximately 9.5 inches diameter and 7.5 inches tall. It is in excellent condition; very minor marks on the bottom portion nothing that detracts at all from the beauty of this kitchen item.

When I discovered this Vintage West Bend Serving Oven I was instantly transported back to my child hood. The smell of hotdogs sizzling outside on the grill while warm hot dog buns steamed away in the server as I played outside waiting to be called to dinner, which would be served outside at the picnic table in our backyard.
Those were special summertime days, fun foods like this for dinner were a treat, and later if you were lucky you could play outside until dark, and then enjoy a popsicle on the porch while gazing at stars and looking for fireflies in the night.
