These gorgeous handmade fused glass cabochons feature an elegant mix of cobalt blue art glass and silvery pink dichroic glass. We capped these mini works of art with a layer of crystal clear art glass to add visual depth.

Each of these 3 cabs is approximately 4mm, or about 1/8" thick.

96 COE art glass and dichroic glass

We made these cabs in our home-based glass studio where we use the finest art and dichroic glass available in the US. We cut and shape our cabs by hand - ensuring that no two pieces are ever identical - and fuse them in a kiln at temperatures in excess of 1400° F, then anneal (or gradually cool) them for 6 to 8 hours for strength and durability.

Most of our cabs are fire polished in a second kiln cycle, which smoothes any rough edges created by the grinding and shaping process so all in all, the majority of our cabs spend up to 24 hours in our kiln.

Please be aware that during the firing stage, small bubbles sometimes form in our pieces - a common occurrence in fused glass work. Happily, these bubbles usually add visual interest to the finished cabochon.
