From its sophisticated color combination to its flashy metallics, this pink and black fused glass cab is a stunner. To achieve the dramatic effect in this piece, we fused glittery gold and shimmering, light rainbow-colored dichroic to a light pink art glass base and topped it with a layer of clear glass.

After initially fusing the layers together, we used a grinder to shape this cabochon, then fire polished it in a second kiln cycle for a total of about 24 hours of kiln time.

90 COE art glass and dichroic glass

This cabochon was made in our home-based glass studio where we use the finest art and dichroic glass available in the US. We cut and shape our cabs by hand - ensuring that no two pieces are ever identical - and fuse them in a kiln at temperatures greater than 1400° F, then anneal (or gradually cool) them for 6 to 8 hours for strength and durability.

Please be aware that during the firing stage, small bubbles sometimes form in our pieces - a common occurrence in glass fusing. Happily, these bubbles usually add visual interest to the finished piece.
