Sparkling fused glass cab with layers of green, blue, pink and gold over a black art glass base. This piece was capped with clear glass and shaped with a glass grinder giving it smooth, girdled edges.

90 COE art glass and dichroic glass

We made this cabochon in our home studio near Dallas, Texas where we use high-quality art glass and dichroic glass to create mini works of handmade art.

We cut and shape each of our cabochons by hand and fuse them at temperatures up to 1400° F. Immediately following the fusing process, we thoroughly anneal (or gradually cool) each piece for 6 to 8 hours while it's still inside the kiln to prevent cracking.

Please be aware that at times, small bubbles form in our cabochons during the firing stage. This is a common occurrence in glass fusing. Happily, these bubbles usually add visual interest to the finished piece.
