We made this cab in our home studio where we use the finest art and dichroic glass available in the US. We cut and shape our cabochons by hand - ensuring that no two pieces are ever identical - and fuse them in a kiln at temperatures up to 1400° F, then anneal (or gradually cool) them for 6 to 8 hours to prevent cracking.

Most of our cabochons are also fire polished in a second kiln cycle (lasting up to approx. 12 to 13 hours), which smoothes any rough edges created by the grinding and shaping process.

Please be aware that during the firing stage, small bubbles sometimes form in our pieces - a common occurrence in fused glass work. Happily, these bubbles usually add visual interest to the finished piece.
