Handmade Ohio flint focal wire wrapped in the warm tones of copper.

Ohio flint is only found in one place in the world, and that is on Flint Ridge.

The flint is dug out of pits in the ground by hand (Using heavy duty gloves and wearing thick pants, because flint coming out of the pit has some very sharp edges!) This particular piece was tumbled over a period of weeks in a tumbler to achieve the rounded edges and high gloss.

Ohio flint comes in a wide range of colors from black shading all the way through blues, oranges, pink, grays, yellows and tans. Many times in the same piece of stone. As you can see, this particular piece has some lovely veining of bluish greys and yellows with a touch of dark orange on the tip.

I chose to wrap this large focal in copper wire adding to its rustic and organic look.

Its fairly large at almost 2 1/2 inches long and would make a great gift for a man or a woman, especially if you like bold statement pieces.
