Original mixed media portrait painting on 9" x 12" canvas board, done with acrylic paint and collage papers.

This painting was started with a pencil sketch that I did some months ago and put aside. It was adhered to a canvas board which was prepared by gluing text paper to it and then painting gesso over that. Her face was painted with an underpainting and then later detailed out with acrylic paints of various colors to suggest her skin and her shirt and hair.

The background has some decorative papers and also pieces of masking tape added to it for interesting texture.

Painting will be well protected for shipping, wrapped in bubble wrap and other materials for cushioning.

This portrait painting was done from my imagination rather than using a photograph as a model. Most of my paintings take on a life of their own, as I often do not have a specific image in mind when I start them. They evolve as they are being created. This is certainly true of this one.
