Peruvian Opal beads have a translucent to opaque nature with a soft range of Caribbean Seafoam Blues or warm array of petal Pink hues making this one of our favorite gemstones and sure to be one of yours. Opal derives its name from the Sanskrit word for stone. Peruvian Opal is classified as Common Opal meaning that it does not have the `play of color` rainbow-like flashes of color. Mined exclusively in the Ande Mountains, Peruvian Opal is highly prized for its wide assortment of blue and pink hues and its translucent quality which rival other stones for beauty.
These are hand cut beads, no two are exactly alike, but I have matched them for earring pairs as closely as I can. They will vary in size from 13 x 14mm to 15 x 17mm and will make beautiful earrings.
