Product Description
Here is a scarce work by the prodigious Mrs. Southworth. Copyright 1877 and 1878. Mrs Southworth's popular works were renewed by her daughter; Mrs. Charlene Southworth Lawrence in 1905.

Mrs Southworth herself never actually lived in the South, but wrote over 60 heart warming novels of Southern life during the Southern Reconstruction Era after the American Civil War.

The Bride's Ordeal has a lovely pastedown portrait of a pretty young woman wearing a Gibson Girl hairstyle. Very light wear to the sage green boards, with very light tanning to the spine and boards. The interior overall is clean and tight; an above average copy of this scarce title of this era. 5.25" x 7.50" 357 pages. Published in 1905 by A. L. Burt in New York.
