Mail Order Design 1612 : This pattern contains directions to crochet the basket shown. Here's an attractive basket to display your flower. Sized to fit a narrow round flower vase with basket edges that flare out like leaves and finished with a long handle, which has ribbon woven through. The basket is stiffed with gelatin/starch.

This pattern has no identification, however, from the large size format, clearly appears to be a mail order document. I have searched, however, have no located what name it was marketed under.

Crochet hook size 11 or 12
Mercerized crochet cotton, No 30.

I have digitally reworked this vintage public domain pattern to produce a clean, easy to read, (1 1/2 inch line spacing) document and then converted to a PDF file (not a photocopy). The file will be sent to you by Email (NO Shipping Costs). You can open with an Adobe Reader and refer to the pattern from your screen, or print.

The PDF file will be forwarded to your email address within 12 hours.

Thanks for stopping by.

The majority of the knit and crochet patterns in my shop are in PDF format. These vintage patterns are from newspapers, magazines and pattern books ranging between the 1930s and very early 1970's. I duplicate only Public Domain Patterns.

Originally, I simply scanned the patterns. But, often - as patterns from magazines and books were often spread over numerous pages - the end result was unattractive and, honestly, a bit difficult to read. (Old, possible damaged, paper scans and looks like old paper). So, I started experimenting with different ways to process these old patterns.

I ended up with a process where the patterns are scanned to a word document, carefully proofed and then reformatted back to a pattern with larger print (no more magnifying glasses needed) and 1 lines sentence spacing, and then converted to a PDF document. This is a labor intensive process, however, it results in an Easy-to-Read, Easy-to-Use document that I am proud to preserve and offer. I do put a copyright mark on the pattern you will receive, but Note: I am referencing the format of the pattern only. These are public domain patterns and you may create and sell the items you make. I only ask, that you do not resell the pattern in my reworked format.

Now, that said, I had entered approx. 900 patterns in my shop before arriving at the rework decision. I am in the process of reworking every pattern in the shop to the new format. I estimate this will take 3 - 4 months. You can tell whether or not a pattern is in the old or new format in the description. Old format descriptions indicate - I have scanned this pattern to a PDF file - versus - I have digitally reworked this pattern.

It is my hope you will enjoy working with these re-digitized vintage patterns, and visit me often. I list new patterns almost daily.
