Silver Mounted Brilliant Dichroic Fused Glass Pendant-One-of-a Kind

This Item Has Been Sold

Product Description
This one inch gem of a dichroic glass pendant is mounted on an oval silver plated bail. This brilliant little cabochon is especially nice in it's richness and depth of color, which ranges from blue green to deep amber with hints of cobalt blue and copper. The color changes in this dichroic glass cabochon are fascinating and the light reflecting on the dichroic glass creates beautiful form as well as intense color. The little nugget of glass is deeply capped with clear and fired to 1500 degrees Fahrenheit to form an intriguing depth in the gem.

Wear this high on the neckline to accentuate a delicate neck or hang it lower to accent the decolletage. It is hard not to stare at the gorgeous color in this dichroic cabochon! It places a delicate point of interest on the wearer's decolletage and dares the eyes to linger a moment too long! A silver flat snake necklace is highly recommended to add some shine all around the neckline. A delicate black cord would also work well. The necklace is pictured but is NOT included. This is for the pendant only. Black leather cords are sold separately in the necklaces section of this shop. #P1108

What is dichroic glass?
Dichroic glass was first developed by NASA as part of their satellite mirror systems. The exceptionally thin coatings are applied to glass in very controlled environments. Di-chroic means two colors and this glass reflects/transmits different colors depending on the angle of light. When it is worn with different colors, it appears to pick up and reflect some of those colors so it really enhances the total look. I call this the "mood" of the glass and it is impossible to truly capture this quality in a photograph, although this photo comes close.

I wear my handmade jewelry almost every day. Strangers have often stopped me to look at the dichroic glass and ask or comment about it. Seeing the jewelry being worn and catching the light has been my best advertisement. My customers have often commented that the dichroic glass jewelry has been a favorite to wear on a daily basis.
